• The Burren

    It is a walkers paradise as we are situated close to the Burren Way Walking route and On the Caher Valley Walking Route and the Black Head Walking Route. Local walking guide available with a huge knowledge of flora, fauna and archaeology. The area is also popular with cyclists with marked cycling routes on the doorstep.
  • Fanore

    Offering a spectacular view of Galway Bay and the Aran Islands and 2 miles to the beautiful sand dunes of Fanore Beach, which is famous for sea- angling and surfing. Learn to surf on Fanore Beach with qualified instructors.

    The village of Fanore is five minute drive and has shop/post office, pub/restaurant and restaurant. Tradional music in the local pub is usually at weekends, and evening dancing in September as part of the local matchmaking festival.
  • Cliffs of Moher, Doolin and the Aran Islands.

    Macs Cottage is within easy driving distance to some of Irelands most well known attractions, such as the famous Cliffs of Moher, Doolin Village, famous for its tradional music and good restaurants, Ballyvaughan and Kilfenora with Galway City a one hours drive around the Bay. Fifteen minutes will take you to Doolin to catch the Ferry to the Aran Islands, with Inis Oir just half an hour by boat.
